Thanks for the Memories!

All good things must come to an end, but it seemed like it was much too soon for this dynamic baseball duo. Bradley, who hit a home run in his final collegiate home stand in 2019, and Nolan, whose 2020 senior season was cut short by a worldwide pandemic, gave family & fans plenty to cheer about throughout their remarkable baseball careers.  We are left wondering, “what if…?” We celebrate their numerous accomplishments that were “earned, never given”…It’s been a memorable ride – thanks, boys for the memories!

A great start; but an abrupt end.

The weekend non-conference college baseball series between Seattle U and Boise State was a homecoming for Nolan, returning to the town where he was born and where his storied baseball career began. It was a special weekend, as his parents and his twin brother and former teammate, Bradley, came out to watch him play. Many other players, past and present from Capital High School baseball, parents, former coaches and teachers showed up to cheer him on. The local news media also featured Nolan (and a SU teammate who also played for a local high school baseball team), to highlight the memorable return and to share Nolan’s message of remembering where you came from and to promote the growth of baseball in local communities. Of course, no one could have predicted what would come next after Nolan and the SU team returned to Seattle. In the days that followed, a pandemic outbreak was declared and within days, the college spring baseball season — along with other athletic programs across the country, amateur and professional — came to an abrupt halt. It’s an unprecedented time and an unimaginable ending for seniors like Nolan who are left with memories of the past and thoughts of what could have been…

Capital High School 2020 players and coaches came out to cheer for one of their alums and watch Nolan finish the first game of the series, hitting 2-4, with 2RBIs and a stolen base…And his biggest cheerleader, twin brother Bradley, flew out from California to lead the cheer for his favorite RedHawk.

2019 Spring Season Begins

Both the University of the Pacific Tigers and Seattle University Redhawks have begun their 2019 baseball seasons. While Nolan, a redshirt junior, will see action on the field for SU in 2020, Brad is playing his final senior year for the Tigers. Follow the exciting season of both teams: University of the Pacific Tigers and Seattle University Redhawks.

Good-bye Summer…

These days, it’s rare to see both Brad and Nolan playing baseball in the same town, so local family and friends took advantage of the opportunity to cheer them on in person. The twins brought their usual championship-level style of play to their Southern California 2018 collegiate summer baseball teams.

Brad, playing for the California Collegiate League’s Orange County Riptide, finished the summer with 1 HR, 1-3B, 4-2B and 15-1B and a .296 avg. Playing for the Sunset Baseball League’s Long Beach Legends, Nolan led his team with 5-HR, and posted 5-3B, 3-3B, 5-2B and 17-1B, and a .330 avg. He was also named to 2nd Team All Summer. Both teams advanced to their league championship finals, with the Legends earning the top prize.

The duo also demonstrated their speed around the bases and in the outfield, including some defensive plays worthy of a web gem highlight reel.  To view some highlights:

  • check out Brad’s reel, including a 2-run HR (June 16) and key defensive plays (July 9) in right field.
  • watch how Nolan ramps up the noise level with some clutch hits during a regular season  game and a solo bomb in the playoffs.

So. Cal. Summer Ball

For the Summer of 2018, Nolan and Brad moved south to join two competitive, high caliber baseball teams.
